Furlong’s Healthy Horse Update

I wanted to take a moment to share with you some news and updates from Furlong’s Healthy Horse as we begin our fourth year of business! For those unfamiliar with this service, Furlong’s Healthy Horse is our delivery service for all supplements, prescription orders, and supplies. It is available exclusively to the clients of BW Furlong & Associates, Equine MRI of New Jersey, and Peak Performance Equine Services, LLC.

We’ve established a unique business model that allows us to compete with the prices of online pharmacies. As part of an equine practice, we can have suppliers ship directly to you. This allows us to not hold or manage inventory; lower over-head means lower operating costs, which means lower prices to customers! Further, because we are catering exclusively to our clients, we can offer substantially quicker turn around on processed orders – we are averaging less than 48 hours from the time the order is placed to the time it is delivered, with the majority of our deliveries happening in 24 hours!

To date, we’ve processed more than 6000 orders for over 900 clients! Our ability to provide these services could not be done without our partners – we are very proud to work with Henry Schein Animal Health, Lutipold Pharmaceuticals, Bayer Animal Health, Wedgewood Pharmacy, Wickliffe Pharmacy, Jing Tang Herbal Supplements, and many others!

As the business has grown, we’ve been able to expand our own business. We launched our online store in 2012, and are currently in the middle of re-designing it for a re-launch this fall. We have also been able to bring on two part time employees to help with some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes on. We continue to get a lot of great feedback from both the vets and the clients that are a part of the service. The vets are thrilled to be able to monitor the medication & treatment of their patients, as well as have full access to all dispensed items for those patients. The clients are happy because the pricing is competitive with what is found online, and our distribution model allows for quicker delivery than services that ship from a central warehouse in Massachusetts or Tennessee or anywhere else!
